Belt Curriculum

Taekwondo at MAGT follows a structured journey of growth — building confidence, discipline, and respect at each level.

Each belt represents progress not only in technique, but in personal development.


1 — White Belt

Symbolizes: Purity and Emergence

The student is like a seed — pure and without knowledge of Songahm Taekwondo.
With time, dedication, and training, roots will begin to grow.

Focus

  • Learn basic stances and movements
  • Develop coordination and balance
  • Begin understanding terminology
  • Build confidence in class structure

Techniques (Intro)

  • Attention Stance
  • Ready Stance
  • Front Kick
  • Basic Punch
  • Low Block

2 — Orange Belt

Symbolizes: Awakening

As the sun rises, the student begins to glimpse the beauty of the art.
Even if its full power is not yet understood, progress is clearly beginning.

Focus

  • Improve technique consistency
  • Develop stronger balance and control
  • Begin combining movements
  • Build confidence through repetition

Development

  • More controlled kicks
  • Introduction to combinations
  • Improved stance transitions

3 — Yellow Belt

Symbolizes: Emerging Understanding

The seed breaks through the soil, reaching for the sunlight.
The student begins to grasp foundational techniques and concepts.

Focus

  • Strengthen foundational techniques
  • Improve timing and coordination
  • Apply terminology more naturally
  • Show increased control and discipline

Development

  • More refined kicking techniques
  • Better form execution
  • Increased awareness of movement

Additional belt levels will be added as the curriculum is developed with instructor guidance.
